Welcome to C.W.W. Kannangara CENTRAL COLLEGE HUNUMULLA, an institution rooted in over a century of educational dedication. From our humble beginnings to our current standing as a pillar of learning in the Minuwangoda zone, our journey is a testament to growth, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to shaping future generations.

A Legacy of Excellence

Our story began in 1890, when we were proudly established as "Hunumulla Boys' School." Starting with just 20 pioneering students, our very first classes were held at the historic 'Ambagahalanda Mahagedara.'

A defining moment in our legacy occurred in 1944. We had the profound honor of being selected as one of the original 54 Central Colleges under the visionary C.W.W. Kannangara's Free Education Act. This milestone transformed our institution, solidifying our mission to provide accessible, high-quality education to all.

As our community and student body continued to grow, we relocated to our current, expansive "Kurunduwatta" land in 1952. This move allowed us to significantly upgrade our facilities and broaden our reach to better serve the entire Minuwangoda educational zone.

In 1961, we embraced a new era of inclusive education by merging with the Buddhist Girls' School. This vital union formed the unified, thriving educational institute that we are today.
